9th International Conference on Critical Information Infrastructures Security CRITIS 2014 to be held in October 13-15 , 2014, Limassol, Cyprus (www.critis2014.org). An special Session on Water & ICT is being organized by Conference Organizing Committee, University of Cyprus – KIOS – EFFINET. Call for papers is already open.
According to the European Commission (2008/114/EC), Water Systems are Critical Infrastructures as they are essential for sustaining certain vital societal functions, such as health, safety, security, economic or social well-being of the people. Τheir disruption or destruction could have significant impact on the country due to the failure to maintain those functions. The key challenges in Water Systems are a) the efficient operation, which relates to improving the system performance while reducing the energy footprint, and b) their security, which relates to monitoring the system for early event detection (leakages, contamination) and taking the appropriate actions to mitigate any possible issue. Water Systems are complex large-scale systems with interoperability with other critical infrastructures, with large quantities of data for some states and no information for some other states. New technologies and algorithms need to be developed, for analyzing large quantities of data from the water systems, estimating what is not known, and make sense out of the uncertainties, noise and sensor faults.
Topics of interest:
- Hydraulic control for energy consumption reduction
- Leakage Management
- Contamination Detection
- Cyber-physical Security
- Big Data Management
- Smart Water Networks
